The Miraculous Healings of Jesus: A Closer Look

Introduction to the Miraculous Healings of Jesus

As I’m a Christian, I regularly hear about the miraculous healings of Jesus during sermons. These stories showcase the power and compassion of Jesus, and they continue to inspire and encourage people to this day. If Jesus is the same today as yesterday (see Hebrews 13:9), then healing could occur today, and to me. I take a look at a few of the miraculous healings of Jesus in this blog.

The Healing of the Paralytic at the Pool of Bethesda

Jesus Healing of the Paralytic at the Pool of Bethesda - The Miraculous Healings of Jesus

The narrative of a man’s miraculous healing by the hands of Jesus, recorded in John 5, stands as one of the most impactful accounts of the Savior’s power. This man, paralyzed for thirty-three years, was found languishing by the pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem, eagerly awaiting the waters to be stirred in the hope of a cure. When the Lord espied him, he queried the man if he sought to be healed. The reply, “I have no one to assist me into the pool,” was perceived as an indication of a lack of faith. However, Jesus, unfazed by this, commanded the man to “Rise, take up your bed, and walk,” and immediately the man was made whole, hoisted his bed, and departed.

The story of the cure of the paralytic at Bethesda holds significant importance for several reasons. Firstly, it demonstrates the magnitude of Jesus’ ability to heal, even those who have suffered for an extended period. Secondly, it highlights the critical role of faith in the healing process. Although Jesus healed the man despite his lack of faith, it was the man’s faith that allowed him to pick up his bed and walk away

The Healing of the Blind Man

In the New Testament, there exists a poignant account of the curative abilities of Jesus as recorded in the ninth chapter of John. The tale pertains to a man, haplessly born with visual impairment, whom Jesus mends through a remarkable intervention. As Jesus approached, he anointed the man’s eyes with clay, directing him to wash away the residue in the Siloam pool. In compliance with the command, the man’s vision was miraculously restored.

The story of the blind man’s healing holds great significance, not only as a demonstration of Jesus’ miraculous power to cure even those afflictions that have been present since birth but also as a testament to the significance of obedience in the healing process. The man’s willingness to follow Jesus’ instruction was pivotal in his restoration of sight.

The Healing of the Woman with the Issue of Blood

In the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 5, there is a tale of the healing prowess of Jesus. It recounts the story of a woman who had been plagued by a blood disorder for a dozen years. Despite seeking the aid of countless physicians and undergoing countless treatments, she found no relief from her affliction. Yet, upon hearing of Jesus, she possessed an unwavering belief that if she could but touch the hem of his garment, she would be cured. And so she did, and instantly, she was purged of her ailment.

This particular healing of the woman with the blood disorder holds great significance for several reasons. Firstly, it highlights the extraordinary ability of Jesus to cure even those who had been suffering for extended periods. Secondly, it underscores faith’s crucial role in the healing process. The woman’s faith in the power of Jesus enabled her to be restored to health.

  1. Hi John! I enjoyed this blog and the effort you have put into it. In your introduction you say “If Jesus is the same today as yesterday (see Hebrews 13:9), then healing could occur today, and to me”. What have you concluded about healings today, and particularly to yourself?

    • Hi Roger. My reply is Luke 1:37 or Matthew 9:23. As for my effort, I must admit that I am trying out the AI bots for blog content. Chat GPT for the words and Midjourney for the illustrations. However, there is a need to edit the content. Maybe there is an AI bot to reply to website comments? I tried chat GPT, and although it can’t answer from a person’s point of view, I changed the question and the answer was ‘The statement suggests healing could occur today, and to me suggests that the person believes in the possibility of healing through Jesus and that this healing could apply to them personally. In regard to healing from spinal cord injury, it is important to note that it is a complex and serious condition, and that recovery can vary greatly depending on the severity and location of the injury. While some people may experience miraculous healing through prayer and faith, others may not. It’s important to seek medical treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to manage the condition. It’s also important to note that healing can take many forms, and not just physical healing, spiritual and emotional healing also plays an important role in the recovery process.’

  2. Hi John

Same situation, same search, same conclusions….I know he can, feel sure he has but can find no evidence of SCI being healed….if it happens for me I will be the one blogging and celebrating and posting my spinal reports and consultants conclusions everywhere. Best Wishes. Tania.
