Assembly guide
Step 1. Begin with material preparation - Plywood and MDF: Choose stains or dyes to be applied after laser cutting to enhance the natural wood texture. Step 2. Get the design file ready to use - download the design file via the provided source link found on the project page. - Unzip the file to access the SVG. - Load the SVG into your laser cutting software. Step 3. Adjust laser settings for the materials - Adjust the design size to fit your chosen material dimensions. - Set the appropriate laser parameters: - Cut: Specify power and speed for clean cuts and sufficient power for engraving to ensure it can be seen after applying dye or stain. - Check your laser cutter’s documentation for material-specific parameters. Step 4. Execute the laser cutting process - Place the material correctly on the laser bed. - Run the cutting and engraving process for all required pieces. - Ensure that the pieces fit correctly as they are cut. Step 5. Prepare pieces for assembly - For Plywood: Wipe smoke marks away with a slightly damp rag. Apply the wood stain or dye. Step 6. Assemble and secure all layers - Align the pieces carefully to ensure proper alignment of the design - I used small pieces of plywood or MDF that were used to join each larger piece of the giraffe. - Use appropriate adhesives: - Wood Glue for plywood and MDF. - Use clamps to secure the layers while the adhesive dries. - A gloss spray enhances and protects the artwork for plywood and MDF. Step 7. Attach mounting hardware - Attach a hanging mechanism, such as adhesive strips, to the back of the artwork. All steps are finished — you’ve completed Giraffe Heights: Growing Tall Together! Step back, admire your work, and enjoy the finished piece.
