The Rainbow Swirl Mandala laser cutting project is a wall artwork.

Suitable as a gift for all ages.

The project uses acrylic or MDF or Plywood.

It is an an intermediate project, and I estimate the project can be completed in 2.75 hours for acrylic, 3.75 hours for MDf and 3.25 hours for plywood. However, your completion time will depend on the laser cutter, the dimensions of the project and your skill level. If you think my time estimates need adjustment, please feel free to let me know via a comment below.

Instructions

1. Prepare the Materials
       - Acrylic: Choose the acrylic colours and use a protective film if required.
       - MDF: Prepare MDF by painting it with a white undercoat and selecting paint colours to finish after the laser cutting.
       - Plywood: Choose stains or dyes to be applied after laser cutting to enhance the natural wood texture.

    2. Prepare the Design File
       - Download the design file from the source link provided on the project page.
       - Unzip the file to access the SVG.
       - Load the SVG into your laser cutting software.

    3. Set Up the Laser Cutter
       - Adjust the design size to fit your chosen material dimensions.
       - Set the appropriate laser parameters:
         - Cut: Specify power and speed for clean cuts.
       - For the material-specific settings, refer to your laser cutter’s guidelines.

    4. Use the Laser Cutter
       - Place your material on the laser bed.
       - Run the cutting process.

    5. Following Laser Cutting
       - For MDF: Wipe smoke marks away with a slightly damp rag. Paint the layers with your chosen colours. Spray paint is preferable to canned paint.
       - For Plywood: Wipe smoke marks away with a slightly damp rag. Apply the wood stain or dye.
       - For Acrylic: Remove any protective film from the material after cutting.

    6. Assemble the Layers
       - Align the layers carefully to ensure proper alignment of the design.
       - Use appropriate adhesives:
         - Acrylic Adhesive for acrylic.
         - Wood Glue for MDF or plywood.
       - Use clamps to secure the layers while the adhesive dries.
       - For MDF and plywood, use a gloss spray to enhance and protect the artwork.

    7. Prepare for Wall Mounting
       - Attach a hanging mechanism, such as adhesive strips, to the back of the artwork.
       - Verify that the mechanism is suitable for the wall surface.

The completed Rainbow Swirl Mandala

This artwork is a highly detailed, layered wooden mandala featuring an intricate swirling pattern that draws the eye inward, creating a mesmerizing optical illusion. The design consists of multiple concentric rings, each carved with delicate, flowing curves that spiral toward the center. The vibrant colors—yellow, blue, orange, red, and green—add depth and contrast, making the piece appear almost three-dimensional. The outer layers extend into a structured, geometric frame, enhancing the artwork's symmetry and complexity.
